Former world No. 7 and former US Open quarterfinalist Mardy Fish has confirmed that he will retire from the pro tour at this year’s US Open. The American announced the news on Wednesday via his Twitter account.

“My schedule this summer will be Atlanta, Cincinnati, and I will finish my career at the US Open. #lastride,” he tweeted. His final tournament will also mark his 13th career appearance at the US Open, having first competed there in 2000. He reached the quarterfinals in 2008 and the round of 16 each year from 2010 to 2012.

The 33-year-old plans to team up with former world No. 1 and 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick in the doubles draw at the BB&T Atlanta Open.

Fish returned to competitive tennis this February after an 18-month absence from the game. In June 2014, he underwent an operation to correct misfiring electric pulses with his heart. He has also been open about struggling with an anxiety disorder.

"I was basically getting anxiety attacks every 30 minutes of the day at that time," he told USA Today last August. "That was the worst of it. They would just never stop. I’ve come a long, long way from where I was.”

Fish has competed in two tournaments so far in 2015, one of which was a doubles-only appearance. His last match was this March in singles at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.

The American has won six ATP singles titles and eight ATP doubles title throughout his career. All but one of the singles titles have come on U.S. soil. In addition to his success at the US Open, he also reached the quarterfinals of the 2007 Australian Open, amassing more than $7.5 million in prize money since turning pro in 2000. He also captured the silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games and was a regular member of the U.S. Davis Cup team, posting an 11-8 overall record.

The 2015 US Open will be played Aug. 31 through Sept. 13 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
